Two parts in one: [2] blank leaves, 244 pages, [1] leaf of folded plates : illustrations (woodcuts), folded plate ;24 cm. Engraved folding plate, 51 large circular emblems in first part, and 45 engraved emblems in second part, after A. van de Venne. dded engraved title page (frontispiece) of part 1, by Frans Schillermans, has title: "Sinn-en-Minne-Beelden = Emblemata amores moresqu?e spectantia = Emblemes, touchants [sic] les amou?rs et les moeu?rs. Rare edition, bound with a second work that was probably intended to be issued together with this one. The author, known to the Dutch as "Father Cats", was one of the most popular authors of the golden age of Dutch literature and is best known for his emblematic works. Bound with "Monita Amoris Virginei...", same author and publ. 19th c. sheep, gilt, marbl. endp., blue edges. Label covered by 2 others "I" and "141". Browning. Stamp of Biblioth. Semin. Pjilad. S. Caroli Borr. Small hole on t.p. Repair non plate fold.
